Ferrari’s controversial Luce electric car has just sold for an unbelievable $40 million at Monterey Car Week. Even more surprising, this is Ferrari Luce Chassis 0, making it a historically significant example of Ferrari’s first fully electric production car.

The Ferrari Luce represents one of the biggest changes in the history of the Italian automaker as Ferrari enters the fully electric performance car market. While the decision to build an electric Ferrari has generated plenty of debate among enthusiasts, Chassis 0 has already attracted extraordinary attention from collectors.

This special Ferrari Luce was personalized through the Ferrari Tailor Made program with a Madreperla Semi Gloss exterior, white 5 spoke wheels, white brake calipers and a distinctive Perla Le Mans metallic leather interior.

The $40 million auction result does not represent the normal market value of the Ferrari Luce. Chassis 0 carries unique historical significance, and the auction was held for charity, with proceeds benefiting the Ferrari Foundation and its educational initiatives.

Would you pay a premium to own Chassis 0 of Ferrari’s first electric car, or would you rather spend the money on a traditional Ferrari with a gasoline engine?
