Felix Borowski (1872-1956), born in Britain, spent most of his career as a composer in the United States. Borowski, also a pianist and violinist, studied in London as well as at the Cologne Conservatory in Germany, and his early works received attention from luminaries such as Edvard Grieg. As a teacher at the Chicago Musical College, he was best known for his tutelage of the Mexican composer Silvestre Revueltas, also teaching history, form and musicology at Northwestern University and serving as program annotator of the Chicago Symphony later in his career.
Borowski's "Adoration", first published (and seemingly composed) in 1898, is his best-known work and has become a standard in string instrument pedagogy around the world - for example, as part of the ABRSM exams in the UK. However, it is not well-represented on modern recordings; this rendition by Singaporean violinist Min Lee and pianist Beatrice Lin is an exception.
