Case Type: Railroad: Clark v. Union Pacific
Description: A locomotive stopped on the tracks triggered the lights and gates at a crossing, backing up traffic for a significant period of time, causing vehicles to go around the crossing arms.
Visualizations Produced:
Fearless Eye obtained the video from the stopped locomotive that showed the crossing arm gates going down and many vehicles from both sides of the crossing going around the crossing arms to cross the tracks. Using the locomotive video, site and accident photos, the crossing was modeled in 3D. The vehicles were then animated according to the locomotive video. A camera was placed within the 3D model of the accident vehicle and it became clear that vegetation near the tracks blocked the driver's view of the oncoming train.
