Case Type: Railroad: Belisle v. BNSF

Description: A BNSF Brakeman performing maintenance on a stopped train stood too close to a neighboring track and was struck by a train traveling 45 mph.

Visualizations Produced:
After traveling to the accident site to gather distances, photos, video, and conduct lighting studies to accurately match light levels from the ambient light, surrounding street and crossing lights, as well as, the train engine headlights. CADD data and photos were then used to model the site in 3D and calibrate the lighting to match the site conditions at the time of the accident. Video shot at the site also provided the time allotted for a man to enact avoidance maneuvers to avoid the locomotive.
