Case Type: Railroad: Miller v. BNSF

Description: A locomotive rear-ended another train that was stationary on the tracks, causing it to derail and catch fire.

Visualizations Produced:
Fearless Eye boarded a locomotive traveling the same route as the accident locomotive recording video as the train progressed down the rails. We then retimed the video to match the accident trains speed and superimposed it on an aerial animation of a train following the same route. The combination of the video from the locomotive and the aerial animation illustrate that there were many warnings notifying the train crew that they needed to slow their speed and then stop, but they heeded none of these.
