Maine residents voted Tuesday in favor of a ballot measure to implement a so-called "red flag" gun law.
As the ‘yes’ votes gained a sizable lead Tuesday night, cheers erupted among those who had spent months campaigning for a measure they say will strengthen Maine's existing yellow flag laws.
The effort began in the wake of the Lewiston mass shooting, when a lone gunman with deteriorating mental health killed 18 people.
Arthur Barnard’s son was killed that day. But he says the shooter, Robert Card, was another victim.
