A mum adopted an obese cat after misreading his weight on the rescue ad as 19lb not 19kgs - only for the three-stone puss to turn up weighing the 'same as her 10-year-old daughter'.

Kristine Seguin knew that Axel was large when she applied to rescue the seven-year-old cat however had misread the weight measurement when she'd seem him online.

So the 38-year-old admits her 'breath was taken away' when the enormous moggy turned up at her home on February 9 for the first time and was as big as her dog Charlie, a border collie and boston terrier cross.
