Death may be the only way out, for those, held without charges, or cleared of any crime, but still incarcerated forever, at Guantanamo Prison. The same for U.S, prisoners held in unlimited isolated solitary confinement. Many would rather die than live with no future. When the judicial system has failed, the only non-violent tool left (at least non violent to others) is to starve yourself to death. But prisoners are often brutally forced fed, instead. When Andres Thomas Conteris told me he would break his fast by being forced fed in front of the White House in solidarity with Prisoners at GTMO and U.S. prisons, I feared for his life.
