Universal Studios Hollywood is thrilled to introduce its first-ever high-speed outdoor roller coaster, “Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift,” debuting in 2026.
Inspired by the blockbuster Fast & Furious film series, this exhilarating new attraction will raise the bar for guest experiences with cutting-edge technology that’s never been seen before on a roller coaster.
The ride's state-of-the-art system is designed to fully immerse guests in the fast-paced world of Fast & Furious. Highlights include an innovative 360-degree rotation of individual ride vehicles, propelling them along a complex track engineered with sound reduction technology for an optimized experience. These advancements will create the exhilarating sensation of drifting as guests spin through high-speed turns.
“We are excited to unveil our first high-speed outdoor roller coaster,” said Scott Strobl, Executive Vice President & General Manager of Universal Studios Hollywood. “As a leading entertainment destination known for immersive attractions based on popular movies, TV shows, and games, ‘Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift’ will bring a new level of excitement to our dynamic theme park. We can’t wait to welcome guests when it launches in 2026.”
Set in Universal Studios Hollywood’s Upper Lot, the ride will feature a red-brick, garage-style queue area, leading guests to board vehicles modeled after the iconic cars from the Fast & Furious films. The roller coaster will then launch riders along an aerial track that winds through theme park sections.
Leveraging Universal Destinations & Experiences’ extensive expertise in roller coaster innovation, this new addition will enhance Universal Studios Hollywood’s lineup of world-class attractions, including SUPER NINTENDO WORLD™ with “Mario Kart™: Bowser’s Challenge,” “The Wizarding World of Harry Potter™,” “Jurassic World—The Ride,” “The Secret Life of Pets: Off the Leash,” “Despicable Me Minion Mayhem,” and more.
The new coaster will also join the theme park’s iconic Studio Tour, celebrating 60 years of moviemaking magic. Since 1964, the Studio Tour has provided guests with a behind-the-scenes look at an authentic movie and TV production backlot, showcasing iconic sets like Jupiter’s Claim from Jordan Peele’s NOPE and Courthouse Square from the Back to the Future films. It also includes attractions such as “King Kong 360-3D” and the “Earthquake—The Big One” simulation.
The Fast & Furious franchise has captivated audiences for over two decades, grossing over $7 billion at the global box office. It is Universal Pictures’ most successful and longest-running franchise, boasting a massive fanbase across social media platforms.
