Invented in 1913, the Farador was one of many so-called "Gas Pipe Cures" introduced in the early 20th century: quack medical devices that claimed to infuse the human body with additional oxygen in order to boost its natural healing abilities. Though thoroughly debunked even in their heyday, they sold well until the late 1920s.
