“Family Secrets” (NBC-TV Movie 5/13/84)
A family so far apart, there's only one place left to go. Back together! Maggie Lukauer (Maureen Stapleton), a well-to-do, recently widowed suburbanite plays host for the weekend to her estranged daughter Jessie (Stefanie Powers), a divorcee and dedicated careerist; and her searching, illegitimate 18-year-old daughter Sara (Melissa Gilbert). The plot reunites them to pack up the big family home, which Maggie has decided to leave for a smaller condominium. From this premise the film evolves as character studies of the three women, who share recriminations, regrets and bittersweet memories in alternately intense contender confrontations while trying to come to grips with their past and futures. Additional cast includes: James Spader, Irene Tedrow.
