Fallout 76’s newest expansion, Burning Springs, is now live on the Public Test Server and I’ll be exploring it live. This update introduces a massive new region in southeastern Ohio, a landscape scarred by nuclear fallout and chemical contamination from the Abraxodyne plant. Players can jump into a fresh questline centered around the sinister Rust King while uncovering new dangers and lore woven into Appalachia’s expanding world.
The update also debuts the new Bounty Hunting system, run out of Highway Town’s Last Resort saloon by The Ghoul, voiced by Walton Goggins. Here you can pick up contracts for smaller Grunt Hunts or trigger full-scale Head Hunts events, bringing a new layer of challenge and replayability. Alongside that system come two new public events, Gearin’ Up and Sinkhole Solutions, as well as new legendary mods to further customize your builds. Creatures unique to the region make their first appearance, including the Radhog, which can even be adopted as a CAMP pet while testing on the PTS.
Under the hood, Burning Springs also includes a wide range of gameplay adjustments, perk balancing, and combat tweaks to refine the Fallout 76 experience. With so much new content to explore—from story and setting to mechanics and rewards—this PTS is shaping up to be one of the most significant updates since Wastelanders.
