In short, here is the summary of the story-
Denali, always hated and yelled at by his siblings, often found himself being alone and saddened. When Takari, his mother, started noticing, she started spending time with him. Soon enough, Denali was Takari's favorite son and they were always talking. This changed when Kaveil, Denali's father, murders her. This was because he was taking his and Takari's pups. He did not care for her anymore, and as he said it, the pups had strong genes from their father. He had seen Denali and how pathetic he had been. The runt. He decided to wait around for him so that he could see his true strength. This did not work because Denali ran after one wound. He ran and ran until collapsing. Kaveil had not followed him. He returned to his pack (later to be analyzed). Denali laid there, not being able to move his shoulder. A little later, a fox named Zhara caught his scent. She brought him to her den and tended to him. They struck up a strong friendship after this, and they always talked to each other.
