A federal fraud case involving a man accused of posing as an NFL player is gaining attention online and trending on TikTok.
Prosecutors say 35-year-old Daejon Love allegedly used dating apps to pose as a San Francisco 49ers player and, with 18-year-old Taylor Jamie Chan, received about $1.3 million from at least 26 victims through alleged fake investment opportunities.
Investigators say Love was never employed by the NFL or 49ers, despite online content and search results appearing to support his claims.
Love and Chan were arrested in Idaho in August and face federal wire-fraud charges, while the FBI says additional victims may exist.
