The Fake Music Producers conversation just went somewhere deeper.
I’ve been reading comments from people who seem less interested in discussing music production and more interested in defending the personalities they follow.
Same arguments.
Same talking points.
Same language.
Same outrage whenever somebody challenges the narrative.
At what point does being a fan of a music-production creator turn into something resembling cult-like behavior?
That’s what this video is about.
I’m NOT saying that simply watching somebody on YouTube, buying an MPC, learning from a creator, or respecting someone's accomplishments makes you part of a cult.
I’m talking about the behavior I’m observing:
People developing extreme loyalty to online personalities they don't personally know.
People repeating talking points almost word-for-word.
People entering other creators' comment sections to defend someone who never asked them to.
People treating disagreement like a personal attack.
People becoming emotionally invested in protecting another person's reputation, business, gear opinions, accomplishments and narratives.
And meanwhile, I keep coming back to the MUSIC.
Where are the songs?
Where are the records?
Where are the artists?
Where is the actual music production?
Information about an MPC is useful.
Knowing what compressor to buy is useful.
Understanding preamps, saturation, sampling and workflow is useful.
But information should be a TOOL — not the foundation for surrendering your own judgment to another person.
And somebody else's experience does not invalidate mine.

I have my own history, experiences and perspective on what music production means, and I'm allowed to speak about what I see happening in this community.
You don't have to agree with me.
That's the entire point.
You should be able to hear somebody else's perspective without feeling obligated to attack them because it conflicts with what your favorite creator told you.
Think for yourself.
Make music.
Let the work speak.
