Fairbanks, Alaska, residents and dignitaries celebrate during the ribbon-cutting ceremony for Fairbanks Memorial Hospital on March 20, 1972. The hospital is celebrating its 50th year in 2022. Fairbanks Memorial Hospital replaced the city's beloved St. Joseph's Hospital, which had been destroyed by the great Chena River flood of 1967. The ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new hospital included Dr. William Wood, Ron Nerland, Harry J. Porter and others. Alaska's Senator Ted Stevens appears prominently at the ceremony as well. A bagpipe band plays. Comments by Kathleen 'Mike' Dalton are featured (Color/Sound/16mm film).
