Locals check out household goods for sale at an auction on a sunny summer day in Fairbanks, Alaska, circa 1950. The woman in the black hat and coat is Hulda Ford (1873-1957), who came to the North as a "dance hall girl" during the gold rush days of the early 1900s. She later became a property owner in Fairbanks. At the time of her death, she was one of Alaska’s richest women (B&W/Silent/8mm film).

This sequence contains excerpts from AAF-7471 from the Hilliard Avnet Film collection held by the Alaska Film Archives, a unit of the Alaska and Polar Regions Collections & Archives Department in the Elmer E.
