Amy Acton, CEO of the Phoenix Society for Burn Survivors, is a survivor of electrical burn injuries, which she sustained when the mast of a sailboat struck an overhead power line. Amy was working a summer job at the marina when she was 18 years old. She was assisting two other colleagues with moving a sailboat when the accident occurred; one of the coworkers did not survive.
Since then, Amy has dedicated her career to burn injury treatment as a burn nurse, and advocating for burn recovery resources.
