A rare and destructive tornado has struck southern France, devastating the village of Pomas in the Aude department of Occitanie, between Carcassonne and Limoux. The violent tornado was also filmed from nearby Verzeille and seen moving through the Preixan area as severe thunderstorms swept across southern France.
Homes in Pomas were ripped apart, roofs torn away, trees uprooted and vehicles overturned as the powerful storm tore through the village. The wider Aude region near Carcassonne was also hammered by destructive winds, large hail, intense rainfall and thousands of lightning strikes.
