In August 2012, a group of the US Air Force's most advanced fighter planes were temporarily based in Savannah, GA. The F-22 Raptors' had to make way for construction on the runway at their home base in Virginia.
The planes flew out of the Georgia Air National Guard's Combat Readiness Training Center at the Savannah International Airport, and took advantage of the opportunity to train against other fighter squadrons based in the area.
