In recognition of the upcoming celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Aug. 22, 1962, maiden voyage of the world's first nuclear-powered passenger ship, an event that drew more than 100,000 people to Savannah's waterfront, Savannah's City Council approved a Proclamation naming August 22, 2012, "N.S. Savannah 50th Anniversary Day."
