Unfocus when the keyboard shortcut screen appears. Load a game on the world map. Open the menu with a controller. Press X on your keyboard to soft reset. Load another save. You warp to the world map. Change module by entering a field or getting a battle. You can now open the menu and save. It should be useful for NG+ and All bosses.FF7 Air Buster with unfocus in All bosses%chuky2025-04-25 | This is a way you could beat Air Buster in PC all bosses% with the unfocus glitch to be warped back to the world map after the fight. It's not easy but it is possible. You need to unfocus at the end of the swirl at the right time. There's no sound while the game is unfocused. When you're on the world map, if the battle doesn't trigger it means you got the timing wrong. When timing for the unfocus is right, when you refocus on the world map the battle triggers.FF7 Kalm skip with the unfocus glitchchuky2024-12-19 | With the Steam version you can use the unfocus glitch to skip the Kalm flashback. It also works with the Japanese version from the Square Enix store. The unfocus glitch restarts game modules. In Kalm you can restart the previous fight to warp outside Kalm.
To be able to move you need a controller that's compatible with FF7. You can't use Steam input. If you don't have one, you can use x360ce to emulate one. x360ce.com

This setup lets you smuggle Sephiroth's materias to the City of the Ancients. This is a proof of concept. Materia smuggle glitch youtube.com/watch?v=hosDrlVF6e4FF7 Unfocusing Glitch main skipschuky2024-10-11 | The unfocusing glitch allows you to do every glitch from the Japanese pc version in the Steam version. Both version allow you to restart a game module, field, battle, main menu by abusing the way the game pauses. In the Japanese pc version you pause with the Status Max menu, while in the Steam version you pause by unfocusing the game. The Status max glitch has a few limitations but more skips are possible in the Steam version. You need a controller for most skips but you can use x360ce to emulate a controller. If you use Steam input, your controller may not let you move when the game is unfocused. You can use x360ce instead of Steam input so that FF7 recognizes your controller.
Thanks to XeroKynos for finding the original glitch and skips, Jake for finding how to buffer input while unfocusing, xKira for posting about the chest with the poison materia, everybody who taught me things about glitches and the game. Thanks to everybody who did tests with the glitch, and every people who are interested in the glitch and the speedrun.

There's a high chance of getting hit when attacked from behind if you have 2 dead characters. This allows to use the invalid field warp to go through the mine, watch the Turks cutscene and avoid warping to Corel.
There's a small chance that enemies don't hit you from behind, warping you to the reactor instead of killing you. If this happens, you can reload the first game in the reactor, die and getting attacked from behind again.
To get some precise encounters like encounter 50, 51 or 65, you may need a table of IGT. This makes getting these encounters consistent.
In the video, I mention a bug with Barret. In some cases in the back row, enemies from behind hit you like if you were in the front row. It seems to be about the order of characters, the slot, and which enemy attacks you. Until someone understands what causes this, if you want to be safe you can get under 45 hp, but 90 hp should be fine.

Chapters 0:00 Intro 0:52 The Steam version 7:53 The Japanese versionTAS Spelunky 2 No Seed Any% in 32.583s Switchchuky2023-12-11 | This Tas was made with libTAS 1.4.5 and Yuzu mainline 1640, a Switch emulator. I used libTAS to record the input frame by frame, save states and encode the video. I didn't use Tas features of Yuzu.
The main features of this Tas is that it's in unseeded mode and also that it's a Switch Tas.
The Tas works because Spelunky 2's levels are very short. It would be hard to make a Tas on Switch for any other game. This version of Yuzu is multithreaded so it does not always stay in sync with what I recorded. I kept notes at what frame each level ended to make sure it stayed in sync when playing back. I put a save state before each level and I exported each level separately with a bit of margin before and after, and then I played back the same level using the same save state and checked that the level ended on the right frame. Then I put another save state, etc. After exporting videos of each level, I joined all videos together.
I could have improved menuing in the beginning. When I started the Tas I was experimenting with settings to keep the Tas in sync as much as possible. With a better seed I could get a teleporter in the first level, but after playing a bit I saw this seed was good anyways because more of the levels ended on the same side as the entrance. A handheld teleporter would be faster because the telepack keeps your upward momentum so you have to land before you can exit a level.
I'm not sure when the RNG seed gets set but when I play back the Tas, if the 3 other spelunkers are in the correct spot in the lobby it means that the RNG seed is the same as the one I recorded the Tas with. If they're not in the same spot, I stop and restart the playback.
Thanks to people on the libTAS Discord for helping me, and Kilaye for making libTas and improving it for Yuzu.FF7 JP INT PC The Status Max glitchchuky2023-12-02 | The Status Max glitch is only possible in the Japanese International Pc verstion sold on the Japanese Square Enix store. Sometimes it's called the e-store version. It allows you to skip some dialogues, but you can also skip a few fights and cancel warping so you can do the wrong warp sequence much faster without dead solo Cloud. The Japanese word for Status max is ステータスMAX. The Japanese International PC version is only sold to people with a Japanese paying card from a Japanese IP address.
The Status Max glitch is done by opening the menu, closing it, and when the menu is closed and the screen is black you press Shift-F10 to open the Status Max. You can do things with it that are explained in the video. Usually you change field and then cancel the Status max message.
A few more interesting things this version has: It doesn't crash after year 2038, while the Steam version does. The original pc cd version didn't crash either. The message that you can't run away can be shown during the pause while it can't in other versions. Young Cloud doesn't have a name in the flashback.

In the video at one point I talk about a crash in the reactor when try warping to Junon. The crash also happens in the Steam version but you have to use a cheat to be able to reproduce it. Junon's field ID is 428. It crashes even in the Steam version if you try warping there by forcing the encounter 428 with cheats. The Emerald weapon's encounter ID is 984, as shown in the video. You can use it to warp to the black reactor.
youtube.com/watch?v=-Dp2ovns9X8 Guard skipFF7 Bulge on the world mapchuky2023-09-11 | You can make a bulge in the world map with a glitch and be able to walk on it. I used the steam version but I guess it also works with the Playstation version. To glitch the chocobo so it doesn't flee, you first need to do the older version of the Kalm skip with the Zolom (chocolom), then catch another chocobo near Junon.
It's interesting to note that the 2nd time I glitch with the chocobo, I start from chunk 31 in ff7-world-viewer and then at the end of the glitch the chunk 31 is the chunk with the bulge. The bulge may appear because the chunk with the bulge has less polygons than the chunk with Fort Condor. It's also interesting that the bulged polygons seem to be the first ones in the list of polygons of the chunk. Map chunks are 24-20 (Fort Condor) and 23-21 (the chunk where the bulge appears) if you want to visualize them in wm-tools.
I'm not completely sure you need to glitch twice with the chocobo, but every time I got a bulge on the world map in other places it was after several glitches.

You can grab the key in the Esmer base faster without getting closer to the enemies, to skip the Esmer base and get the navigation disc. It may need some ajustments to find a consistent setup. Sometimes I had to press the holomap while the magic ball was much lower and it was hidden by the wall. This is recorded in Pcem.LBA2 Esmer base skipchuky2023-08-19 | With the right angle you can reach the chest with the esmer disc with a holo glitch. I'm not sure it's faster than the current route. This is recorded in Pcem.Datapath Vision-AVHD resolution change and lag testchuky2023-06-11 | Small test comparing a CRT screen with the capture with a Datapatsh Vision-AVHD. The CRT and the LCD screen of the capturing computer are side by side. It's filmed at 50 fps. It shows there's 5 or 6 frames of lag overall but the capture is more than 0.5 second faster than a CRT to change resolution from 320*200 to 640*480. The VGA output from the graphics card is split with a passive adapter to duplicate the output, which weakens the signal. One cable goes to a Samtron 95p plus, and the other one goes to the Datapath Vision-AVHD with a passive VGA to DVI adapter. The red led on the screen show it's changing resolution. At the end of the video I hold the key to change resolution so the screen finishes changing resolution but still displays black and when I release the key, the CRT displays the image faster because the resolution is already changed.
The old computer is a Pentium 75 with a Trident 9440tgui. The game is Little Big Adventure. A glitch allows you to go through walls when changing the resolution with F5 (same glitch as using the holomap). You could play the game on a real pc and use a capture card instead of a CRT screen if you wanted to have faster visual feedback of the glich when changing resolution.FF7 JP original - No encounter battle flag and restartchuky2023-05-01 | On the original Japanese Playstation 1 version (not the Japanese international version), you can keep battle flags if you restart by pressing Start + Select + L1 + R1 + L2 + R2. If you start a new game then restart and open a game on the world map, you don't get any encounter.
You can also keep the timer from the reactor 1, but you can't do a wrong warp like on pc.
The field ID address is 09A05C on the US version 0987F4 on the original Japanese versionFF7 Motorbike chase under 4 secondschuky2023-04-02 | New test with the FF7 pc cd version. The Steam version doesn't do this. Here on a semi modern computer, Windows XP sp3 32 bits, i5 3470 (3.6 Ghz), Geforce 6800 (drivers 81.85), Yamaha XG 744. Vsync is off.
I thought the cpu mattered the most but actually it's all about how fast frames render, that's why vsync is off. In computers from 1997, graphics cards ran some calculations on the cpu so people thought the bike minigame was cpu sensitive, but it's more about how fast the graphics card can render frames. If you have vsync on, the speed depends on the refresh rate. The snowboard minigame and roller coaster also behave the same.
Compared to my previous test, this one has the same cpu but graphics run in hardware with proper drivers (although the video card is older). The older test ran at 250 fps with software rendering while this one runs at 1100 fps in hardware mode.
Older version in 16 seconds running at about 250 fps youtu.be/MaZj0cOR4UoFF7 Invalid field warpchuky2023-03-26 | The invalid field warp is a kind of warp for PC similar to the wrong warp but it allows you to stay in the same field and move to the position of a glitched save. You can skip triggers or events with this glitch, like skipping Kalm from the mythril mine, or skipping Materia Keeper in Mt. Nibel. It can be used in any% pc. This will be useful for the Yuffie warp/no debug room route.
Software you can use to check values: Makou Reactor to know the triangle ID and coordinates for each field. With Ochu you can know your coordinates and triangle. With Cheat engine you can edit the triangle you're on with this address: FF7_EN.exe+8C16E8 (2 bytes)

How to do the chocobo glitch youtube.com/watch?v=E4-EZjz9kgkFF7 Wrong warp from the reactor without a chocobo Proof of conceptchuky2022-07-04 | This is a proof of concept showing that you can wrong warp from the reactor to the debug room without having to catch a chocobo. The setup is more complex and harder to execute than the previous setup I posted so it's rather a proof of concept, but it shows that the 7th heaven can be skipped as RJTheDestroyer said. The hard part is to cross the Mythril mine without getting an encounter. The basic idea is that if a save is on a low field ID, the game will instead load any field that you just died on. If you died elsewhere or if you just launched the game, the save will crash. I do a save point glitch to save away from the save point in the reactor, and the game thinks the position I saved in the reactor is also valid in the Mythril mines. It allows me to warp after the trigger in the Mythril mine.

This is done with LibTas 1.4.1 and Dosbox Staging 0.76.0, running the floppy version of LBA. I don't know if I'll make part 2 because it doesn't keep savestates when you change resolution and I use very often a glitch that changes resolution. Everytime I try a glitch and fail I have to playback the recording from the start so it takes a lot of time. I also had trouble changing graphics drivers back and forth and this run is now desynced so the part 2 would need to be started from a save.
Some parts are optimized, some are not. Here's a few notes about the run: I used the floppy version because cutscenes don't have a fade out so each cutscene saves about 0.75s. The main glitch I use is using F5. This glitch doesn't work in the official Dosbox because of SDL 1 that's why I used Dosbox Staging instead. Other emulators would work too. It's faster to kick Zoe in your house. I tried to move her forward with kisses but it seems slower. I forgot to skip the worldmap cutscene in the ferry. When I talk to the astronomer the first part of the talk is optimized, but then I lose time jumping on the wall. In the Temple of Bù, the boulder part without jumping is frame perfect and pixel perfect. It can't be done on a regular run. In the Temple of Bù, the vertical saw hits me hard because it tries to go inside me so it hits me every frame. How much it hits you depends on how you touch it. The death in Proxima Island saves less than 1 second.FF7 Transmuting itemschuky2022-05-18 | In the PC version, with this glitch you can create any item from other items during the Kalm flashback in Nibel. You can even create items that don't exist in the game or use Masamune with Vincent. Some items are worth 2 billion Gils and you can also trade in cd3 for an almost unlimited amount of master materias. You can also steal all Sephiroth' materias. This glitch relies on Yuffie warping, the Kalm skip and the Photo skip.

This is the vanilla EPC version of Tomb Raider 2 running on a PC emulator. It would be faster with other versions of the game but not as cool. I don't plan to run the full game but I'll try to do more TAS tests. This run is done with libTAS 1.4.1 and PCem 17+st-1. It's emulating a Pentium II-233 Mhz, 128 Mb of RAM, a 3dfx Voodoo 2 + S3 Virge DX, CD drive x72, Windows Millenium, 640*480 (upscaled for Youtube). Here are some notes about the run. I played without music because as you may know when playing vanilla the game freezes half a second every time a music track plays. There's a good explanation on speedrun dot com by Darenk why freezes don't happen with the crack and the music fix. At 0:18 This is a glitchless glitch (forward+roll). It's faster for EPC but not for other versions. At 0:21 The old ledge grab is faster because I'm coming from below. I spent a lot of time trying to jump the glitchless way but I only succeeded in EPC when jumping backwards which may indicate that it's a corner bug. At 0:30 It's faster to jump because you fall faster than after rolling. I may have lost some time because I turned too much in the previous glitch and it messed with the jump sequence. At 0:38 The qwop can only skip the door in EPC. At 1:10 I couldn't find anything better than the current jump sequence and glitchless glitch. I took it from Eycore, I don't know if he did it first. At 1:27 This a Woops bug (regular jump). At 2:01 I guess fabi9812 first kept the flare to cancel a step in shallow water. After finishing the run I think it would save a bit more time to cancel a stumble instead. At 2:59 It's slower to go this way without a qwop. In a regular run it's faster to do running jumps in the flat part on the left. The qwop took me 1h30 with save states so it's unlikely to happen in a real run and very risky. Troye may have been the first to do it, I'm not sure. Maybe Apel or someone else. At 3:06 I skip that screen as fast as possible but this is vanilla. At 3:09 The triple sound is because I cut the recording too fast. For some reason that jump in midair would be allowed in glitchless.TR2 GG at the beginning or the Great Wallchuky2022-01-02 | Faster way up in EPC, it probably works with other exes too. Press forward and roll, or maybe just roll.LBA2 warping from a platformchuky2021-12-20 | You can warp to a different save state from any platform. It also works on the turtle without jumping and without a car, you just need to save on the turtle. When you jump or move around the 3d map, the game updates the backup state in case you die, and respawns you there if you die. If you save on a platform the game doesn't seem to save the backup state. It also doesn't update the backup if the load was saved from a platform. Here I save before the jump happens so the backup is not yet updated. When I load it, the jump happens and I guess it doesn't update the backup either because it thinks it's already in the save. When you load a regular save it puts the backup in memory but if the save doesn't have a backup the previous one stays in memory and when you die it will warp to the one already in memory. That's why in the 2nd test it doesn't warp from the 3rd save to the 2nd save but to the 1st one. In the end I use a glitch to be able to die so I can warp. I press F2 in the air and open the holomap. I didn't record the turtle but you just walk in the water after saving/loading on the turtle and you warp.LBA2 warping items from the demo sceneschuky2021-12-18 | You can warp items after watching the demo. You need to get the car, and make a save after warping in the demo scene. You'll have locked controls, but after quitting and warping again you'll be able to start a new game + with the items Twisen had at the point you stopped the demo. Here's a video showing the basic idea this is based on twitch.tv/videos/1236087999 Most of this glitch was already found, here's the Reddit post about warping with the car reddit.com/r/LittleBigAdventure/comments/n7sxk2/the_spawn_glitch This was done with PCem. To make it work with Dosbox and the Gog version, Dosbox must not quit automatically when you quit the game or else it won't work. This is how you do it with the Gog version : Make a copy of dosboxLBA2_single.conf and call it dosboxLBA2_single2.conf Edit the new file with a text editor and the last line, instead of "exit" you put "rem exit" (don't touch the ":exit" line). Make a copy of the Launch Little Big Adventure 2 shortcut, you right click and edit the properties to remove " -c "exit"" at the end and link to the new config you made, so the shortcut target will look like this : "C:\GOG Games\Little Big Adventure 2\DOSBOX\DOSBox.exe" -conf "..\dosboxLBA2.conf" -conf "..\dosboxLBA2_single2.conf" -noconsole So now when you exit LBA2 it won't close Dosbox and you can start LBA2 again by typing LBA2. When you want to close Dosbox for real, type exitLBA Pacman warp the magic ballchuky2021-10-28 | You can send the magic ball to the other side of the scene if you throw it on the bottom left or bottom right side of the scene and press F5 or use the holomap.LBA Drowning in the airchuky2021-10-24 | You can drown in the air behind Twinsen's house, even though his coordinates are above the ground. There's water under the ground, though. It doesn't work with the backflip, you have to jump.LBA small time save in Principal islandchuky2021-10-17 | Small Pacman warp to the library after you talk to the astronomer. It's saves a few seconds running to the top of the scene if you do it faster than I do. The glitch with F5 also works with the holomap. edit: here I do it too slowly but if it's executed right it's faster than running.LBA shooting through wallschuky2021-09-28 | You can shoot the magic ball through the fence. It also works through doors. Bullets can also go through with this, but not the Supergro stunning gun. I used F5 but I think it works with the holomap as well. The F5 glitch doesn't work in the regular Dosbox but it works in other emulators like PCem and other versions of Dosbox like Dosbox-X and Dosbox Staging.TR2 climbing without a ladder Operachuky2021-09-27 | Just a reminder that you can climb on a wall if there's a ladder below. Ladders work like triggers, every wall above a ladder is also a ladder until it reaches a ceiling. It's also possible at the end of the Temple of Xian, you can climb up to the ceiling even though the ladder texture stops before. It's not possible at the end of the assault course practice level where there's a ladder, a small ceiling and then another wall.LBA Box Puzzle IL 38.154chuky2021-08-14 | Box Puzzle individual level in Little Big Adventure, the version from GOG. I used Dosbox Staging 0.76 because the F5 glitch doesn't work in the official Dosbox. Timer and save can be downloaded here speedrun.com/resourceasset/vbg0aLBA Citadel IL 0:20chuky2021-03-27 | Citadel IL in 20 seconds. For the F5 zoom glitch to work you need PCem or Dosbox Staging or Dosbox-X or another Dosbox fork that uses SDL2, or LBAWin or Virtualbox or run LBA natively. It doesn't work with the regular Dosbox. This is done in PCem 17.LBA Sam glitch on a flat surface Temple of Buchuky2021-03-25 | I'm trying to see if you can clip in any wall with the Sam glitch. It's too slow to be useful here. First I embed as much as possible in the wall with the sabre, then the Sam glitch allows to embed just a bit more in the wall to be moved on top of it. It works with the holomap in Dosbox but you need Dosbox-X or Pcem to be able to do it with F5.TR2 2 examples of 2 stair high qwopschuky2021-03-13 | 2 qwops done at the end of Tibetan foothills where the first block is 2 steps higher than the ground. Both can be done when standing still or running. It works with any exe. This is similar to this in TR4 youtu.be/4cjdcnX4_w0TR2 qwop Great Wall door skip with EPC + 2 stairs qwopchuky2021-03-12 | Done with the EPC exe, just hold forward and jump. The 2nd jump in the video was an attempt to qwop with a height of 2 steps from standing still. The qwop starts in the 2nd jump but the wall is too close so the qwop stopped. The 2nd jump starts a qwop with any exe and it would also start with a running jump. The 2nd jump is similar to this in TR4 youtu.be/4cjdcnX4_w0LBA Free catamaran ridechuky2021-02-05 | Free boat ride from the White leaf desert to the Hamalayi mountains. The actual glitch starts at 1:40. The F5 glitch can also be done with the holomap. You can reach a warp zone above the water in the white leaf desert that brings you to the Hamalayi. If you get the catamaran before having the book of Bu you can't go anywhere else with the catamaran. If you get the catamaran after getting the book of Bu you can't go to Proxima island either but you can go to Port Beluga but then you'll have to buy the catamaran.LBA2 glitch up a ramp without holomapchuky2021-01-23 | You can glitch up ramps like a hologlitch without the holomap. Here I used F2, F3 would have worked instead. Probably anything that freezes the game timer and puts it forward in time when you release it, instead of unpausing. Same idea as this clips.twitch.tv/LightFrailInternRuleFiveLBA wtf physics with VirtualBoxchuky2020-12-18 | With VirtualBox 6.1.16 and FreeDos 1.2 the hologlitch doesn't seem to work but the zoom glitch does. With nested paging on some wierd physics happen, the platform moves fast, you go up when falling while zoomed, etc. Done with a AMD Ryzen 3900X if it matters.LBA zoom glitch in regular Dosbox proof of conceptchuky2020-12-17 | Proof of concept that it's possible to use the zoom to warp through objects or walls with the regular Dosbox, like in other emulators. It's rare but pressing shift seems to allow Dosbox to freeze when holding F5 (the expected behaviour with other emulators). You may not need to press F5 the first time you press shift. In Dosbox-X, Pcem and real hardware it's much easier, you don't need to do all that. Here I used Dosbox 0.74-3 default settings except cputype=pentium_slow and cycles=max but I don't think it helps.LBA fmv skip time cd vs floppy versionchuky2020-12-08 | In the floppy version of LBA, fmv cutscenes are replaced with a picture. In the cd version there's a fade in and a fade out of about 1second each but in the floppy version there's only a fade in but no fade out, it instantly switches to black. So it saves about 1 second per fmv to use the floppy version. Btw loading is a bit faster in dosbox and modern hardware. This is recorded in PCem 16 emulating a Pentium MMX 300. The time gained with the floppy version is probably the same in other emulators. Loading time is 0.5 second more with voices enabled, at least in PCem.LBA Citadel IL 0:33chuky2020-11-26 | Individual level done in PCem 16. The F5 zoom glitch through the wall works in Dosbox-X and PCem but not in Dosbox (as far as I know). The timing for F5 is just before the jump sound or exactly with the sound, I think you have to hold it a bit but I'm not sure, I pressed it twice but it works with 1. The first glitch up the platform works with any version, it's a safer version, holding enter gives you more chance to go through the platform because it makes you go up a bit. There's some time to gain with more practice.LBA timer on a modern computer, some glitcheschuky2020-10-16 | Little Big Adventure running on a (semi) modern computer, i5 3470 (3.6 Ghz), 16 Gb of ram, crt screen, Freedos 1.3 RC2. The goal is to show the timer and test some glitches on real hardware. Sorry, it's a bit out of focus. Menu animation is too fast, as expected, the zoom glitch works (unlike dosbox). The zoom is instant but if you hold F5 it freezes time more with a black screen, I don't know if it can help with the glitch. 2 interesting things is the glitch where you jump, hold enter and press F2 again while holding enter to levitate, you levitate much faster on a real computer than on emulators I've tried. Also, the platform of the nurse doesn't move linearly, it accelerates then slows downs, then accelerates again. It can happen in dosbox or dosbox-x but I haven't seen the issue in pcem.
If you want to install Freedos or MS Dos, you need a computer with a bios (UEFI doesn't work), and an empty hard drive. If you install it on a partition you'll have a hard time removing the bootloader.LBA Zoom glitch without holomapchuky2020-10-15 | If you press F5 for the zoom, it has the same effect as doing the holomap glitch. Pressing F5 freezes the timer, just like the fade in fade out does when you use the holomap. So you release the zoom, the timer is put back to its value and Twinsen's position is extrapolated based on his speed when you frozen time, I guess. edit : It's done in Pcem, but the glitch also works with Dosbox-x. I couldn't reproduce it in Dosbox but the timer is known to be not completely acurate in Dosbox.
