CDI felled the Duke Crystal River Units #1 and #2 Boilers on June 12, 2021, and Units #1 and #2 Chimneys on November 13, 2021, for Main Demolition Contractor NorthStar Contracting Group, Inc. (NorthStar) of Orlando, Florida. See links below for video and detail concerning the first two phases:

CDI’s operations on two final structures, a pipe bridge and elevated coal conveyor over waterways at the site, were delayed for over a year while manatee safety/environmental impact studies were completed by NorthStar toward obtaining a US Army Corps of Engineers (USACOE) permit to fell the structures into the waterways.
The morning of September 15, 2024, CDI segmented the pipe bridge into four sections to facilitate NorthStar’s removal of same from the waterway below. CDI rolled the majority of the coal conveyor onto land, north of the structure, minimizing the material that had to be retrieved from the waterway.
