Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E) contacted Silverado Contractors, Inc. (Silverado) regarding the felling of two (2) high-voltage transmission towers on either side of the Sacramento River in Rio Vista, California: Tower 157 at 420’ tall and Tower 158 at 470’ tall. Silverado selected Controlled Demolition Inc. (CDI) to act as the specialty explosives subcontractor to perform the design for and the precision felling of the towers. CDI mobilized to the site on March15, 2025 to oversee structural modifications on CDI-selected tower columns and beams in the lower portion of each tower for subsequent explosives placement. CDI loaded a total of 44 lbs of explosives in the two towers.
