In this video we take a look at the abandoned La Colle Falls Hydroelectric Dam on the North Saskatchewan River, about 45 km east of Prince Albert.
Construction on this structure started in 1912 and lasted for about a year before completely halting in August of 1913. Roughly a third of the dam was built, and the incomplete remains have now sat abandoned for 113 years.
This project almost bankrupted Prince Albert and affected the development of the city for generations.
In this video I show you some footage I captured of the dam area and I also cover the history of this project using archive photos.
It was a blast visting this site, I'd highly recommend visiting if you get a chance and I sincerely hope that this place can be converted into more of an official tourist destination!
