The Local AI Translator from MyDutchPal.com uses ollama based models, such as Llama 3.1. They are installed to run locally, offline, for extra privacy.
In addition to just translating text, we can also use a variety of AI tools and enhancements, such as terminology extraction, rewriting the original text, summarizing it and more. Here are a few examples.
As of this recording, this product is still young. More features are being added, and the ollama models themselves are also continuing to grow in capabilities and speed.
Yopu can likely run this on your desktop or laptop. Even better if you have a great GPU to assist, and in the future we might see ollama also support use of NPU (?) but even on systems relying only on CPU, this can be very useful.
There are also options to read the translated text out aloud. And for single File translations, and even batch translations for multiple files in a folder.
