Join me as I drive from Newton, North Carolina, for my first ever trip to the historic city of Wilmington. Not only does Wilmington have a beautiful and walkable downtown on the banks of the Cape Fear River but it's in close proximity to a number of pristine beaches, including Carolina Beach with its well-known boardwalk and Wrightsville Beach, named one of the South's best beaches for its picturesque setting and laid-back atmosphere. Not only will you get to see a beautiful, and as yet, relatively undiscovered part of the country, but you'll even get a free lesson in the art of sailing.
