Discovering the vintage relics and bizzare landscape of Dead Horse Bay, an exposed and eroding landfill in New York City . July 2018. Post apocalyptic views of buried automobiles, stranded boats and disposed household goods can be seen here as well as decorated driftwood displays . Broken bottles and glass making musical chimes in the surf. The discarded old trash is the result of a poorly designed landfill from the late 1800’s to the early 1950’s that became exposed and has been eroding away from the tidewaters. The property had also been used for horse rendering plants and skeletal remains of horses are easily found. This site is part of a Federal Park and it is not recommended to take or remove items and treasures
from the area.
