While the Anza Borrego Desert might seem like an inhospitable place, for thousands of years Native Americans called it home. Scattered throughout the desert are a number of ancient Native American village sites, where you can still find traces of the past in the rocks.

In this video we head to Mine Wash in Anza Borrego Desert State Park and visit an ancient Kummeyay winter village site, where nearly every rock shows evidence of their presence with metates and morteros, as well as yoni shaped carvings.
