Walking the streets of Ajijic, Mexico as we make our way to the nearby town of San Antonio Tlayapacan. We spent a month in Ajijic and the Lake Chapala area. Ajijic is about an hour south of Guadalajara. The Lake Chapala area and Ajijic in particular are popular destinations for US and Canadian retirees, especially during the winter months. There are many services and businesses that cater to the expat community, and English is more readily spoken here than any of the other locations we’ve visited so far in Mexico.
