This video explains how the Meteorological Ensemble Forecast Processor (MEFP), in the Hydrologic Ensemble Service (HEFS) short-term probabilistic guidance uses adjusted meteorological forecasts in the hydrological forecast model to produce a more reliable ensemble streamflow forecast by adjusting for the known uncertainty and bias that exist in the meteorological model inputs. This is the second of a set of three videos introducing the purpose and benefits of the HEFS. This video series is available as a training module on the MetEd site at:

Aimed primarily at operational meteorologists and hydrologists, this video will also be useful for other expert users of hydrologic forecasts such as emergency managers, water managers, water utilities operators, and personnel at other similar agencies.
