Hi All,
Well, simply this blend can be summed up in one word, Incredible!
Even though this is an English/Bulkan style blend it is crafted by the the magicians over there at JF Germain with all their know how. It’s rather unassuming going by the tin art and you would never know what wonders it holds inside.
Upon opening you are not hit with Latakia but all the leaves within the blend. Latakia first followed by that sweet smelling Virginia. Allowing the your nose to adjust and rest with these fine aromas the oriental/Turkish leaves are subtle but present, which I don’t normally smell upon opening a tin.
After the Pipe is lit, all the smells and flavours come out to play in single file each taking their playful bowl before doing a perfect balancing act. Truly delightful and rich with flavour.
After the bowl gets halfway the flavour intensify’s like a well reduced sauce for an amazing dish.
For a ribbon cut it burns cool and very little to no moisture in the bowl when finished. Nicotine is mild more than medium and will not bite for the most part. I found the very last of the bowl the tobacco became ever so slightly like a cigar ,only just, but that’s what i detected with a slight bitterness that could lean toward tongue bite if puffed to quick at the finish line.
In consideration it is one of the best blends of its kind that I have tried yet. It’s similar to our best blend but for me it is just that little more tranquil or dare I say it, reserved.
Smoked today in my new Meerschaum made by White Fang Pipes. A great combination as I know a meer will give you an honest true smoke.
