Hi all,
So the video is a side by side comparison of 1792 vs the Lakeland dark Tobacco’s from Samuel Gawith.
Before I start I just wish to say they are both great blends in there own right.

1792 is a flake and the Lakeland Dark is a broken flake but both look very similar as you would expect in the fundamental parts. I found the base of the tobacco to be very similar but as you light them they are very different in there nuances.
1792 with the Tonquin bean topping has a more rounded profile that has a consistent taste on the pallet all the way through. Where as the Lakeland dark has a more sweeter note with the Virginia coming through having not been masked by the Tonquin.
I do find personally I like the Tonquin and that in its self is what makes 1792 such a unique blend. So if you like strong, deep rich flavours both blends will hit the mark but deliver them in different ways.
I found the LD to be harsh in spots but I think with a little age it will mellow and be even better. LD needed about 30mins to dry as it was damp out of the tin.

Both Tobaccos are med-strong In the Nic department and room note is not for those who enjoy smoking. Unlike me both blends really excel at a slow cadence and really letting those flavours rumble around the mouth. Neither gave me tongue bite but smoking them side by side did fatigue my tongue a little, so don’t try it. 😉
If you have the chance to try both then do! As both deserve there own spot as a masterful, full bodied, full filing smoke.
