For my second feature of DS Sunday this week, I bring you the second album from Italy’s Exanera.
Dolmen ad Naturam is a development and continuation of the sounds established in March’s debut of lo-fi dark and eerie drones. Here the bleak, blackened ambient ripples with unnerving tension; ominous tones held in wavering stasis, woven into channels of light and dark, traversing the corporeal realm, of land and sea, earth and sky.
I especially appreciate how unhurried each piece of this album is, and how accomplished the tones and narratives of each track are. A very successful second album.
