Goldeneye on the Nintendo 64, released in 1997, is a wonderful little slice of videogame history, and its level Facility is absolutely fantastic.
Admittedly, neither Goldeneye nor Facility may be very impressive nowadays, but back in the 90s, both were a revelation which helped prove the FPS genre could work on consoles.
If you were a console gamer, owned a Nintendo 64, or were looking for a way to play first person shooters that didn’t involve splashing out on a computer at a time when not every home had one, the release of Goldeneye was very exciting indeed.
And in this video, I take a closer look at Goldeneye and Facility, to try and explain why both are so amazing.
