Abstract
This presentation explores EVPN multi-site deployment leveraging Border Gateway nodes to interconnect heterogeneous underlay fabrics (IPv4 WAN and IPv6 DC) using VXLAN overlays. We demonstrate how dual-loopback architecture with strategic underlay connectivity ensures EVPN control plane stability during fabric isolation events, eliminating MAC churn and maintaining host reachability. The architecture implements EVPN multi-homing with DF/NDF election and local-bias BUM forwarding rules to prevent L2 loops while supporting both single-homed and dual-homed host connectivity. We discuss critical design considerations including underlay eBGP routing, VTEP loopback placement, and route target management for seamless cross-domain communication.
