My replacement card for the 980 Ti with the failing liquid cooling.
After noise-optimizing the cooling system for my supersilent system, I noticed annoying coil whine even within v-synched gaming framerates, at a lower frequency but still definitely coming from the coils.
Since I have heard cases of people RMAing such and getting one without it, this is apparently not a design limitation. I could imagine this being a card from such an RMA.
I find it peculiar how EVGA claims they are subjecting refurbished cards to a thorough check including noise emissions, considering the card fan is whining at standard RPM, too. Two noises that shouldn't be and they didn't notice it?
Interesting fact: EVGA ships cards for refurbishing all the way to Taiwan.
