Everything's Coming Up Roses | June Styne and Stephen Sondheim, arranged by MU1 Thomas Eby

We look forward to bringing back the International Saxophone Symposium in 2023. Until then, we'd like to premiere a video featuring Senior Chief Luis Hernandez and the U.S. Navy Band Commodores jazz ensemble.

Senior Chief Musician Luis Hernandez, a native of Miami, Florida, joined the Navy Band in 1996. He is the Commodores' Unit Leader and lead tenor saxophone instrumentalist. He is featured here with a performance of Everything’s Coming Up Roses, by Jule Styne and Stephen Sondheim, from the musical Gypsy, arranged by Musician 1st Class Thomas Eby. This performance was recorded at The Kennedy Center's Millennium Stage, Washington D.C. in 2018.

Prior to joining the United States Navy Band, Hernandez attended the University of North Texas where he earned a Bachelor of Music in jazz studies. There he played in the internationally acclaimed One O’clock Lab Band. During his three and a half years in this great ensemble, he performed with world renowned artists such as the Brecker Brothers, Jon Hendricks, Louie Bellson, and Gerry Mulligan, and was featured on six recordings.
