In 2023, the United States Navy Band awarded the inaugural Alton Augustus Adams Sr. Award for Emerging Composers to Jaylin Vinson of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, for his chamber work “Afrophilia.” Enjoy this new recording of his work performed by the U.S. Navy Band Woodwind Quintet!
THIS YEAR, U.S. Navy Band is currently accepting entries of popular, country/bluegrass songs or crossover contemporary songs no longer than five minutes in length. Songs could be performed by either our popular music ensemble, Cruisers, or our country/bluegrass ensemble, Country Current. The song or arrangement should not be previously professionally recorded. The deadline for entry materials is September 1, 2025. Please apply with enough time to submit by the entry deadline. Materials will be evaluated, and notifications will be sent out no later than Dec. 15, 2025.
