People say that Akihabara is no longer what it once was. It's too expensive, too touristy, and it's strayed from its otaku past. But is it still worth visiting for a geek traveling to Tokyo?

I decided to explore Akihabara and see just how expensive Super Potato has gotten, what kind of anime figures you can find, and just how cheesy the miad cafes are. And I also compare it against another recent visit I made to Nakano Broadway - where you still can find some good bargains.
The title to this video is of course a complete lie. There's no way that I could see everything that Akihabara has to offer, but I did my best to explore all kinds of different stores. Everything from electronics stores to card game stores, and lots of other geeky places in between.
What I found is that it's definitely not as cheap as it used to be. But there's still a lot to see - and a lot to experience for a first-time visitor to Tokyo and Japan. There are better places for shopping, but you still don't want to miss everything that Akihabara has to offer!
