Fiber artist and weaver, Consuelo Jiménez-Underwood 's work underlines the complexities of the lived border experience that many Xicana/o/x peoples deal with in their everyday lives.
This Borderline installation tiled, "Everything All at Once" uses an iconoclastic approach toward political symbols that are associated with the destruction and policing of Indigenous lands, peoples, and other living beings. This large-scale piece shows a way of existing and resisting in the world that extends beyond the confines laid out by settler–colonial society. The oak leaves across the installation were created in collaboration with Bay Area youth organization The Butterfly Effect and families at OMCA to serve as markers of the stories of migration, home, and existence upon these lands.
