Everyone is Don Quixote Here is a fiction-documentary film that traces the marks and effects of the gentrification process in the historic Yeldegirmeni neighbourhood of Kadiköy. The documentary explores the transformation the neighbourhood has undergone through gentrification, focusing on former residents, newcomers, artists, Erasmus students, and their lives. Within this context, the film centers on the musical journey of Alevtina Parland, who came from Helsinki to Istanbul to study Ottoman makam music, and on the story of Istanbul Klezmer Kapelye, the band she founded.
Ekrem Çanak has been working as a freelance director and cinematographer, producing music videos, short films, documentaries, and commercials. He is currently pursuing a Master's degree in Film Design at Marmara University.
