In "Stambeli, the Spirits' Last Dance", director Augustin Le Gall and journalist Théophile Pillault shed light on a little-known ritual in the social and cultural history of Tunisia. Filmed between the sanctuary of Sidi Ali El Mekki on the Mediterranean coast and the heart of the Medina of Tunis, the three-part documentary film explores this ritual threatened with extinction through portraits of three protagonists.
Augustin Le Gall is a photographer focusing on societal issues related to the Mediterranean countries, especially Tunisia. In documentary as in photography, he focuses on identities in construction and the memory and the resilience of societies in mutation.
Théophile Pillault is an author and journalist. For two decades, his articles have been published in Technikart, Polka Magazine, Vice (Noisey, The Creators Project), Mouvement and Trax Magazine.
