The ending song of Oregairu S2 (My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU 2) is one of my special-type arrangements and it has gone through a long development period, until it achieved its final form.
The first verse was based on the "Everyday World -Ballad Arrange-" from Oregairu (used as a ED in episode 7) because I really like the lyrical atmosphere of this version. However, after finishing the first draft, I became more and more attracted to the faster, "normal" version of "Everyday world" (used in all the other episodes) and decided to redo the entire sheet.
But after I finished the entire sheet, I realized that it would be too much of a waste to discard the "ballad arrange" piano sheet I have created, and that's why I decided to merge both versions into one, single arrangement - and that's the one you are currently listening to.
Alright, this would be the story behind the transcription.
I have actually finished a second piano cover already, and it will be uploaded tomorrow. It's the ED song of Gochiusa S2 and it will also be my final upload for this year.
Well then, I hope you have enjoyed this piano cover of everyday world!
See you next time again!

![unlasting - Sword Art Online: Alicization - War of Underworld ED [Piano]
Sheet music → https://mymusic.st/animenzzz/51532
Both 「ADAMAS」 and 「unlasting」 from LiSA are really amazing pieces, but what makes 「unlasting」 stand out is the serene atmosphere and the way the music is building up before each chorus. Definitely one of my favorite musical moments is the sudden drop in volume during the third chorus in 03:28, and LiSAs voice is shining brighter than ever - its truly magical.
I also didnt know that the composer for「unlasting」- Kayoko Kusano - was also the same person, who has composed 「Gurenge」. This might explain the exotic pentatonic melody lines which is played by various instruments in the background.
Speaking of exotic, 「unlasting」 is also featuring a rarely used instrument in todays pop music: the Erhu (string instrument). The sound of Erhu immediately reminds me of the exotic, far east and I personally think it has one of the greatest vibrato sounds of all string instruments. No matter how often I hear it - I always feel nostalgic for some reason.
Another prominent feature of this song is the Ostinato (frequently recurring motif) which is playing the melody [C-D-F-G-Bb] at the beginning part, the verse part and the chorus part of the song. I tried to incorporate the ostinato as well in the piano, most notable during the chorus in 01:04 and 02:24 by using the three hand technique.
I usually spend the most time to make the bridge part stand out, because this is the key moment of every song: Suddenly a new element is introduced and melodies are further being developed. 「unlasting」 is no exception and during the bridge part in 02:56, the Erhu is playing a fantastic solo part. After experimenting on the piano, I found out that using a tremolo in the right hand is creating a sound which resembles the vibrato sound of the Erhu the most.
Last but not least, the final chorus in 03:45 deserves some mention as well. Usually, the final repeat of the chorus is the moment where the music is reaching its climax, but I did the opposite this time: The chorus melody is played in an impossibly high piano range, almost like a music box and its slowly unwinding itself. It is hard to explain, but I think in that moment, I just wanted to have a moment of peace, a short moment of introspection.
To be honest I was having a very rough time this week and this arrangement has turned out more dramatic than my usual arrangements. In a way, all my piano pieces are reflecting my current mood and it essentially serves as a musical memento for me. Most of the arrangements which stands out above the rest are born in times of big distress I was going through. Brave shine, Owari no Sekai Kara, My Dearest, just to name a few.
But even after saying this, I know that I still have to continue doing my best, because there is always a light at the end of a tunnel. Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoyed my piano arrangement of 「unlasting」. Your support means a lot to me.

![Jiyuu no Tsubasa - Attack on Titan OP2 [Piano Duet with Tehishter]
Ladies and Gentleman, the hour has come:
Its time for the most epic anime piano duet Youtube has ever seen...
Allow me to present you one of the best collaboration work Ive done so far - an epic piano duet with Tehishter!
It all started when we both watched the episode 13 of Shingeki no Kyojin and laid our ears upon the second opening Jiyuu no Tsubasa.
We both immediately thought: this is the best (second) Opening EVA
And so, we quickly agreed, to make a piano duet the world will never forget, to celebrate the GLORIA of this awesome opening.
[...]
Now, seven sleepless nights and countless amounts of work later, we are proud to present you our hard work: A FULL special version of Jiyuu no Tsubasa, with countless arpeggios, merciless speed, insane jumps, double voices and every kind of special effect you can imagine playable on the piano.
This is the best anime piano duet youll ever see in your life.
Prove me wrong.
Well, what can I say now? After this video, anime piano duets will never be the same anymore.
I cant thank Tehishter enough for making this possible (and also responsible for creating the HYPE on facebook, lol), therefore -
thank you for making this possible, Tehishter, youre the coolest anime bro I can imagine.
;_;
With that said, I can certainly tell, this definitely wont be our last collab.
If the time will ever come and demands for another anime piano duet, Ill be damn sure, to make this happen again.
Also, many thanks goes to my buddy castlevaniapro93 for mastering this track, he did a great job here.
Please check out his youtube channel too (he make many anime remixes):

With the recent world-wide simultaneous release of the Detective Conan Movie 24, I went to the cinema a few days ago and I was absolutely amazed at the movie theme song 「Eien no Fuzai Shoumei」by Tokyo Jihen.
It really has to be heard to be believed, because the unique chord progressions in the chorus with that chromatic melody line was so unconventional, and yet it made perfect musical sense - it was literally fanservice for my musical ears. Huge kudos to the brilliant Sheena Ringo for coming up with awesome musical ideas like this.
Since this is one of the jazzier piano arrangements, I had a lot of fun to experiment with rhythmic bass patterns in the left hand. The best example would be the bass guitar interjections in 0:15 and 1:02. You have to jump very quickly in the left hand, but the resulting rhythmic energy was simply irresistible.
I also made use of the sostenuto pedal (aka the middle pedal in grand pianos) to hold down the bass note in 1:16 and 1:23, because I wanted to play this section as clean as possible. If I would use the normal pedal, everything would sound too muddy.
Another side note: Did you know that Detective Conan Movies have 24 different version of its famous main theme? I always look forward to hear the newest version of the main theme with each years movie release. And this years version was really one of the coolest I have ever heard with the syncopation in the bridge part!
Give it a try and compare each version against each other. I guarantee you, its absolutely fun to notice the tiny details, from the different usage of instruments, how the rhythms are always slightly changing and how each bridge part has a different key change.

![STYX HELIX - Re:ZERO ED [Piano]
Sheet music → https://mymusic.st/animenzzz/62789
Since the second season of RE:ZERO is currently airing, I decided to finish an old piano arrangement project I have started years ago: STYX HELIX by Myth & Roid. Its a fairly unique song because of the extensive usage of Auto-tune of the singers voice and the hypnotic bass patterns.
When listening to Styx Helix, I feel like I am floating in a deep ocean, trapped in an endless, surreal world. I tried to do a similar approach on the piano by introducing flowing hand movements to create a mysterious atmosphere, almost like the listener is floating on a stream of piano notes.
I had a hard time to decide which melody I should play for the chorus part on the piano in 1:05. If you listen closely to the original song, you will notice there is a constant additional voice in the background, singing along the main voice. I decided to sometimes play the upper melody, and sometimes the lower melody on the piano to make a good mix of both.
The music seemingly stops after the final chorus melody in 3:51, but its immediately being revived again by the play again (F#-G#-C#) melody in 3:55. The music is starting from anew and its building up towards a big finale until it reaches the climax with the ascending arpeggios in 4:20.
The original song has a fade-out ending which I havent heard for a while in Anime songs. I decided to let the sound of the piano disappear into the thin air as well by playing in the highest register of the piano with a mysterious right hand pattern in 4:28. The final note was supposed to be a hypothetical C#8 key, but unfortunately this key doesnt exist on a grand piano (yet). I wonder if there is a piano somewhere in this world with a C#8 key though, so I can finally play the final note and make the piece complete.
Well then, that would be everything about this weeks upload! Styx Helix started as a lyrical arrangement, but after I included the flowing movements in both hands, it sounds like an invisible clock is constantly ticking the whole time, giving this piece a certain rhythmic energy. I think it is actually quite fitting, considering the importance of time in the Re:Zero Anime.
See you next week!

Attack on Titan is probably one of the most hyped anime of this Spring season 2013. I mean, even the trailer for the Anime has reached over 2,5 Million views in just a few weeks.
But wow, after watching the first episode I was completely hooked. The idea of Titans surrounding the last remaining human settlement, only separated by a huge wall is simply intriguing.
Obviously, such an epic Anime deserves an epic piano cover as well, so here it is! Did I also mention that every opening with the combination choir + Electric guitar is instantly awesome?
I added a short introduction at the beginning of the piano cover as well. The first four bars is heavily inspired by Beethovens Moonlight Sonata movement 3, which has happens to have the same key (c# minor).
This also happens to be one of my top 10 most difficult transcriptions Ive ever done, because of the fast tempo of the piece and the many jumps of the left hand. I am really motivated now to do more piano covers but I still havent decided which piece I shall do next. But I will be back again very soon!

ITS EXTRA MAGIC FINGERS TIME!!!! ヽ(。・ω・。)ノ
It took me some time to finish the arrangement, because I was having a cold last week and stayed in the bed the whole time (I blame the cold weather in northern Germany)
Anyway, Extra Magic Hour is my first piano cover of the fall anime season 2014!
Amagi Brilliant Park is one of my favorite anime series of this season, because I LOVE SENTO ISUZU, SHE IS SO PERFECT, SERIOUSLY.
Now, with that said, I am also glad that Kyoani find its way again and decided to make more delicious fanservice anime series instead of... uhm, gay swimming. (I still watched Free! though and I thought it was quite okay)
This arrangement has one of the fastest tempo I ever used (180 bpm), and it also features one of the fastest arpeggios I ever attempted in 4:20.
Also, I added a quotation from a popular classical music concerto in 3:16, since they both share the same key signature. Bonus points if you can recognize the original piece!
Oh, and regarding that project A sign at the beginning:
I made this especially for a collaboration project on bilibili.tv (Chinese video platform, I am also maintaining a channel there). Its short for Project Animenz, thats all.
Alright, thats it folks!

![Kuchizuke Diamond - Yamada-kun and the Seven Witches OP [Piano]
Sheet music → https://mymusic.st/animenzzz/65505
Here is my piano cover of Kuchizuke Diamond, the OP song of Yamada-kun and the seven witches. This is definitely one of the catchiest opening songs of the spring anime season 2015.
This arrangement is almost a 100% faithful interpretation of the original song and the groove is really strong this time. Its also a good exercise for the left hand, because you need high accuracy in the left hand to play the fast jumps during the chorus in 0:58. I think this is one of my few arrangements, where the left hand is more difficult to play than the right hand.
The most difficult part is actually the main melody in the left hand in 0:36, while the right hand is playing an completely independent rhythm. This is the part where I had to practice the most and it can become quite overwhelming, if you dont practice it slowly first.
The ending of this song in 3:38 is quite fascinating as well : the music suddenly stops in the middle of the sentence. As I said earlier, a 100% faithful interpretation to the original song.
Okay, that would be everything I want to say about this piece.
My next upload for this anime season is going to be the ED song of Oregairu S2 - Everyday world. See you next week!

![My Dearest - Guilty Crown OP1 [Piano]
UPDATE 15th January 2020:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lAXJPop9LaY
A new version with better audio quality is available here!
(The following description was written in 2013 and is not up-to date anymore)
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Hello everyone, I am here today with some very sad news. I am currently enrolled in a music conservatory in Germany but because of my Youtube activity (which I kept a secret from everyone), my practice time for classical musical has drastically decreased and my piano professor has also noticed that. I admitted that I was playing Anime pop music in my free time, and my piano professor told me to either take classical piano music seriously and cease all the nonsense activities, or he wont teach me anymore.
After hearing this I was really heartbroken, but I can understand his point. I am here to study classical music after all and Anime piano music will never be acknowledged by professionals. It was really hard but after thinking for a long time, I thought that quitting Youtube to focus on my studies was the better choice.
But I want to do one last arrangement before I depart from Youtube because I wanted the world to hear my piano music, wanted to leave something behind. So I created a special piano cover of My Dearest, the first opening of Guilty Crown.
This is one of my longest and technically most demanding pieces Ive ever written and Ive used all my musical knowledge to create this piece. I took a new approach and added many original materials to make the piano cover not sound like a piano cover, but as a standalone piano piece. With other words, I wanted to create a bridge between the classical music world and the pop music world. Its a summary of my love for the Anime piano and I wanted to give it a new meaning, taking it to the next level. Maybe one day... Anime piano will recognized by the world.
Well then everyone, thank you for listening to my last arrangement. Maybe I can return to Youtube again in the future. I will miss you guys.

Since I dont feel like transcribing new pieces anymore due to lack of time, I decided to compose a piece again.
This piece was randomly improvised yesterday evening after a heavy rain, and the harmonics are inspired by the music from Claude Debussy and Erik Satie.
The piece has a very calm atmosphere, but at the same time, it also gives you a cosmopolitan atmosphere. Therefore I gave it the title The city in the Night.
Fun fact: I own a 2 GB folder full of these background pictures in anime style, they are always very helpful if I am in need for some inspiration.
Thats all folks. hope you enjoyed this small little piece and lets hope I can find some time again to transcribe something in the future...

The second part of the Anime Nostalgia Series is Moonlight Densetsu, the first opening of the first season of Sailor Moon.
Yes, I admit, I also watched Sailor Moon (although widely regarded as a girls show back then).
Still, this is my first trip into the Magical Girl Series, and I still can remember all the names of the Sailor warriors. My favorite couple are Sailor Uranus and Sailor Neptune, because they were SO badass.
Also, very delighted to hear, there will be a new Sailor Moon Project in the near future, I cant wait to see the Sailor Warriors gloriously animated with a complete new (?) story.
The third and last part of the Anime Nostalgia series is Digimon, another series I loved when I was young (and I still love it until today)

![WILL - Violet Evergarden: The Movie [Piano] / TRUE
Sheet music → https://mymusic.st/animenzzz/41494
This piano arrangement is dedicated to Kyoto Animation.
2 years has passed since the Kyoani arson incident and today is the anniversary day of the tragedy.
When I was watching the Violet Evergarden Movie in the cinema last year, I couldnt help but think of all the people, who were involved to create this incredible movie. I also remembered the losses the animation studio had to sustain after that awful arson incident. Simply put, it was a very emotional moment for me, when the ending song WILL by TRUE was playing during the credits of the movie.
Since today is a very special occasion, I have created this piano arrangement of WILL with a specific message in my mind. The message is, no matter what life is throwing at you - you are capable of getting through.
Similar to my piano arrangement of Sincerely, which was uploaded exactly 1 year ago, I have included the melody of the Violet Evergarden Main Theme (F-Ab-Eb-F) in the arrangement to tell a story in the music.
The main theme appears for the first time in 3:49 and I was imagining Violet is reminiscing about her past and the time around her has stood still in this moment. She still has difficulties to be honest about her true feelings and is temporarily lost. But starting at 4:12, Violet has finally gathered her willpower and she is slowly approaching her goal - climbing the stairs higher and higher - until she finally reaches her goal in 4:23. She finally earned her good ending.
Fitting to the theme of the movie, the chorus part of WILL has an almost exact opposite mood compared to the chorus part in Sincerely: WILL is full of positive energy with a bright future ahead while Sincerely is yearning for something lost in the past.
Last but not least, since this movie concludes the Violet Evergarden story, I also included a grand finale for this arrangement. The orchestra is playing in full force again in 5:32, celebrating the end of Violets Journey and the main theme of Violet Evergarden is playing for one last time in 5:47, full of hopes for a bright future, before the curtain finally falls for Violet Evergarden.
Well then, thank you for reading my Animenz Explains column this week! And thank your for listening to my piano arrangement and leaving your comments. I read through almost all of them and I am always happy to hear what my audience is thinking while listening to my piano music.
With that said, see you next time!
