IT'S EXTRA MAGIC FINGERS TIME!!!! ヽ(。・ω・。)ノ
It took me some time to finish the arrangement, because I was having a cold last week and stayed in the bed the whole time (I blame the cold weather in northern Germany)
Anyway, Extra Magic Hour is my first piano cover of the fall anime season 2014!
Amagi Brilliant Park is one of my favorite anime series of this season, because I LOVE SENTO ISUZU, SHE IS SO PERFECT, SERIOUSLY.
Now, with that said, I am also glad that Kyoani find its way again and decided to make more delicious fanservice anime series instead of... uhm, gay swimming. (I still watched Free! though and I thought it was quite okay)
This arrangement has one of the fastest tempo I ever used (180 bpm), and it also features one of the fastest arpeggios I ever attempted in 4:20.
Also, I added a quotation from a popular classical music concerto in 3:16, since they both share the same key signature. Bonus points if you can recognize the original piece!
Oh, and regarding that "project A" sign at the beginning:
I made this especially for a collaboration project on bilibili.tv (Chinese video platform, I am also maintaining a channel there). It's short for "Project Animenz", that's all.
Alright, that's it folks!
See you next time again!

![Kuchizuke Diamond - Yamada-kun and the Seven Witches OP [Piano]
Sheet music → https://mymusic.st/animenzzz/65505
Here is my piano cover of Kuchizuke Diamond, the OP song of Yamada-kun and the seven witches. This is definitely one of the catchiest opening songs of the spring anime season 2015.
This arrangement is almost a 100% faithful interpretation of the original song and the groove is really strong this time. Its also a good exercise for the left hand, because you need high accuracy in the left hand to play the fast jumps during the chorus in 0:58. I think this is one of my few arrangements, where the left hand is more difficult to play than the right hand.
The most difficult part is actually the main melody in the left hand in 0:36, while the right hand is playing an completely independent rhythm. This is the part where I had to practice the most and it can become quite overwhelming, if you dont practice it slowly first.
The ending of this song in 3:38 is quite fascinating as well : the music suddenly stops in the middle of the sentence. As I said earlier, a 100% faithful interpretation to the original song.
Okay, that would be everything I want to say about this piece.
My next upload for this anime season is going to be the ED song of Oregairu S2 - Everyday world. See you next week!

UPDATE 15th January 2020:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lAXJPop9LaY
A new version with better audio quality is available here!
(The following description was written in 2013 and is not up-to date anymore)
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Hello everyone, I am here today with some very sad news. I am currently enrolled in a music conservatory in Germany but because of my Youtube activity (which I kept a secret from everyone), my practice time for classical musical has drastically decreased and my piano professor has also noticed that. I admitted that I was playing Anime pop music in my free time, and my piano professor told me to either take classical piano music seriously and cease all the nonsense activities, or he wont teach me anymore.
After hearing this I was really heartbroken, but I can understand his point. I am here to study classical music after all and Anime piano music will never be acknowledged by professionals. It was really hard but after thinking for a long time, I thought that quitting Youtube to focus on my studies was the better choice.
But I want to do one last arrangement before I depart from Youtube because I wanted the world to hear my piano music, wanted to leave something behind. So I created a special piano cover of My Dearest, the first opening of Guilty Crown.
This is one of my longest and technically most demanding pieces Ive ever written and Ive used all my musical knowledge to create this piece. I took a new approach and added many original materials to make the piano cover not sound like a piano cover, but as a standalone piano piece. With other words, I wanted to create a bridge between the classical music world and the pop music world. Its a summary of my love for the Anime piano and I wanted to give it a new meaning, taking it to the next level. Maybe one day... Anime piano will recognized by the world.
Well then everyone, thank you for listening to my last arrangement. Maybe I can return to Youtube again in the future. I will miss you guys.

![The City in the Night [original piano composition]
Since I dont feel like transcribing new pieces anymore due to lack of time, I decided to compose a piece again.
This piece was randomly improvised yesterday evening after a heavy rain, and the harmonics are inspired by the music from Claude Debussy and Erik Satie.
The piece has a very calm atmosphere, but at the same time, it also gives you a cosmopolitan atmosphere. Therefore I gave it the title The city in the Night.
Fun fact: I own a 2 GB folder full of these background pictures in anime style, they are always very helpful if I am in need for some inspiration.
Thats all folks. hope you enjoyed this small little piece and lets hope I can find some time again to transcribe something in the future...

![Moonlight Densetsu - Sailor Moon OP [Piano]
The second part of the Anime Nostalgia Series is Moonlight Densetsu, the first opening of the first season of Sailor Moon.
Yes, I admit, I also watched Sailor Moon (although widely regarded as a girls show back then).
Still, this is my first trip into the Magical Girl Series, and I still can remember all the names of the Sailor warriors. My favorite couple are Sailor Uranus and Sailor Neptune, because they were SO badass.
Also, very delighted to hear, there will be a new Sailor Moon Project in the near future, I cant wait to see the Sailor Warriors gloriously animated with a complete new (?) story.
The third and last part of the Anime Nostalgia series is Digimon, another series I loved when I was young (and I still love it until today)

![WILL - Violet Evergarden: The Movie [Piano] / TRUE
Sheet music → https://mymusic.st/animenzzz/41494
This piano arrangement is dedicated to Kyoto Animation.
2 years has passed since the Kyoani arson incident and today is the anniversary day of the tragedy.
When I was watching the Violet Evergarden Movie in the cinema last year, I couldnt help but think of all the people, who were involved to create this incredible movie. I also remembered the losses the animation studio had to sustain after that awful arson incident. Simply put, it was a very emotional moment for me, when the ending song WILL by TRUE was playing during the credits of the movie.
Since today is a very special occasion, I have created this piano arrangement of WILL with a specific message in my mind. The message is, no matter what life is throwing at you - you are capable of getting through.
Similar to my piano arrangement of Sincerely, which was uploaded exactly 1 year ago, I have included the melody of the Violet Evergarden Main Theme (F-Ab-Eb-F) in the arrangement to tell a story in the music.
The main theme appears for the first time in 3:49 and I was imagining Violet is reminiscing about her past and the time around her has stood still in this moment. She still has difficulties to be honest about her true feelings and is temporarily lost. But starting at 4:12, Violet has finally gathered her willpower and she is slowly approaching her goal - climbing the stairs higher and higher - until she finally reaches her goal in 4:23. She finally earned her good ending.
Fitting to the theme of the movie, the chorus part of WILL has an almost exact opposite mood compared to the chorus part in Sincerely: WILL is full of positive energy with a bright future ahead while Sincerely is yearning for something lost in the past.
Last but not least, since this movie concludes the Violet Evergarden story, I also included a grand finale for this arrangement. The orchestra is playing in full force again in 5:32, celebrating the end of Violets Journey and the main theme of Violet Evergarden is playing for one last time in 5:47, full of hopes for a bright future, before the curtain finally falls for Violet Evergarden.
Well then, thank you for reading my Animenz Explains column this week! And thank your for listening to my piano arrangement and leaving your comments. I read through almost all of them and I am always happy to hear what my audience is thinking while listening to my piano music.
With that said, see you next time!

![Dango Daikazoku - Clannad ED [Piano]
Sheet music → https://mymusic.st/animenzzz/74148
This weeks nostalgia Anime piano cover is another true classic with a very familiar melody: Dango Daikazoku from Clannad. Whenever I hear this melody, I can immediately picture the ending animation of Clannad in my mind with all the hand drawn Dangos.
It is hard to believe that Clannad has aired almost 12 years ago in 2008, but the story is still as fresh as ever in my memory. Its a little bit of pity that the first season of Clannad is usually neglected in favor of its second season, Clannad ~ After Story. Granted, the emotional impact of After Story is pretty much legendary, but I actually enjoyed both the silly side of Clannad and the serious side of After Story equally. (Especially that gym locker room scene with Kyou)
I wonder if people nowadays still watch those decade old Anime series from 2005 - 2010, especially people new to Anime. Since there are so many new Anime series airing every season, newcomers can be quite overwhelmed regarding what to watch next. And some people might be discouraged by the -seemingly- outdated animations and therefore just watch the more recent Anime Series. Well, I may be mistaken as well and people actually prefer to watch the good old stuff instead of currently airing Anime (笑)
A few words about this arrangement. Its probably the piano cover with one the lowest difficulty level I have done far and I applied the simple is best rule until the very end. My favorite part of the original song has always been the second chorus, when a choir is joining the singer and more instruments are being added. I used the deep bass notes in 02:45 to give the chorus a grandiose feeling, similar to what I felt when I was listening to Dango Daikazoku.
I was also wondering how to give this arrangement a proper closure at the end. Since I am only playing very high notes at the end, the sound reminds me a little bit of a Music box. The melody is gradually losing its speed, like a music box running out of its wind-up energy, step by step... until it finally stops. And all thats left is the silence afterwards.
Well, thats it for this weeks upload! I hope you enjoyed the small nostalgia trip as much as I did. I am already working on next weeks upload and its going to be a frequently requested song. Its finally happening. (´。• ω •。`)
See you next time!

![Brave Shine - Fate/stay night Unlimited Blade Works OP2 [Piano]
Sheet music → https://mymusic.st/animenzzz/74145
Hello everyone, and welcome to the first upload of this year 2016.
A lot of stuff has happened in January and I struggled a lot with the completion of the Brave shine piano sheet. Thankfully, things got a lot better now because of the invaluable support of my family, my friends, and also you fans.
Basically: I was anxious that I couldnt keep my level of arrangement anymore. I was always wondering whether I have reached my peak of arrangement activity already. Whether I can still maintain my arrangement level and improve my Animenz style.
I know, I shouldnt be bothered by these trivial things, because in the end, its only the music itself that matters, and not the arrangement style. But still, I really want to give my best for every video I was uploading, and I just couldnt think of a good arrangement for brave shine - an incredible song, loved by many fans in the world.
I really dont want to disappoint the fans - but I also dont want to disappoint myself as well.
Now, several weeks later, this sheet is finally finished. After a month of uncertainty and struggle. This arrangement is one of the special arrangement types - similar to my Hikaru Nara or Owari no Sekai Kara piano cover.
It starts with a slow variation of the chorus, in the higher register of the piano, resembling the sound of a music box from afar. And after many crescendos and diminuendos, the piece finally dies down in a lowest possible register in c-minor, (the dominant of f-minor), with the three final C-notes in the left hand resembling the sound of a bell in a requiem, until the music fades out completely in a piano pianissimo.
This may not be my best arrangement in terms of technique, nor in terms of musicality. But this is definitely one with the most heart because I put my entire soul in this piece. This is basically my very own Brave Shine.
Well then, with this arrangement finally done, I feel a lot more confident now to arrange more anime song on the piano.
Therefore, my next video is going to be Snow Halation from Love Live! OST. I will try to upload it within the next 2 weeks.
Thank you for reading this long wall of text and thank you for listening to my piano covers.
I will continue doing my best.

Ive decided to upload three piano arrangements from my favorite Anime series to celebrate this milestone in the next few weeks. The first one is the opening song from Clannad (2007).
Ive extended the original TV size a little bit by adding the main melody of Toki wo Kizamu uta (the OP of Clannad After Story) at the end.

![Blue Bird (2022 ver.) - Naruto Shippuuden OP3 [Piano] / Ikimono-gakari
Sheet music → https://mymusic.st/animenzzz/41462
This video is a remake of my old Blue Bird piano arrangement from 2016. Aside from the improved audio quality, there are also many improvements in the arrangement which might be hard to notice at the beginning. The rhythmic feeling has been vastly improved in some sections and I also added new variations as well. In a way, this videos showcases my progress as a piano arranger between 2016 and 2022.
I will highlight the some of the new additions and I will also explain why I arranged it in that particular way. You can compare it side by side with the old 2016 version of Blue Bird:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FTrJ-J_lsr0
0:41 Instead of playing the melody in one voice range, I decided to split up the melody in two octaves, to create a dialogue in the music: One voice is asking a question while the other voice is giving an answer. The music feels more alive in that way.
1:07 I completely reworked the left hand and added many syncopated rhythms to give the chorus a little bit more rhythmical energy. I also used a different rhythm for the short throw-ins in 1:09 and 1:15 to distinguish it more from the main melody.
1:19 The left hand is playing an octave higher to improve the dynamic contrast in this section. The rhythm is also more accentuated this time.
1:35 I added a new variation in the right hand to make the repetitive instrumental part more interesting. The music also becomes more dramatic, serving as a better contrast to the second verse.
1:45 The left hand gains a new secondary melody line, smoothly playing along the main melody in the right hand. Overall, the piece has become more polyphonically by all these small additions.
1:51 The rhythm has become more articulated in this new version, especially the left hand, which is playing a heavily accentuated pattern. The tension in the music has been improved as a result.
2:04 I added a new left hand rhythm with a silent break before the chorus melody to create a more dramatic entrance for the second chorus.
2:51 The rhythm has been vastly improved in the left hand. It matches the syncopations of the right hand much better and its also less distracting, compared to the old version.
3:09 Probably the biggest new addition of this arrangement: The right hand plays a solo melody without the left hand, capturing the entire attention of the listener. Since the chorus is playing for the third time, I modified the melody as well in 3:13 to add more emotional weight in the music.
3:36 The right hand plays a completely different pattern instead of repeating the melody from earlier and it serves as the final climax before the music is slowly fading out. In short, all instrumental solo - parts from Blue Bird have a unique second half in this new version. Compare 0:16 with 1:26 and 3:29.
There are many more small additions, but I think these were the more important ones. Well then, I hope you enjoyed reading the video description this time! I almost feels like a changelog of a game update, haha. (Blue Bird v1.0 has finally evolved into Blue Bird v1.5)
Last but not least, this new version of Blue Bird is also included in the Animenz sheet music book vol. 1! You can purchase the book here in the online shop:

Its very fun to remake one of my old arrangements.

Thank you for 1 Million subscribers!
Lets start the year 2018 with a piano medley arrangement from one of my favorite video games: NieR:Automata!
Initially, my plan was to create a medley consisting of the first three chapters of the game: City Ruins, Memories of Dust and Amusement Park. But during my recording session, I started to improvise the melody Vague Hope as well, because this is one of my favorite tracks from the NieR:Automata Soundtrack. I also wanted to create an exciting finale for this medley so I added the first boss battle song A Beautiful Song as well at the end.
Did I mention that I absolutely love the NieR:Automata soundtrack? Pretty much every piece from the soundtrack album is a masterpiece by itself.
This piano medley can also be regarded as the first part of the NieR:Automata experience. Only the first three (?) main missions are done (exploring the ruined city, traveling through the desert, reaching the amusement park and beating the first boss Beauvoir) and the musical continuation would be the forest kingdom theme. Maybe I will do a NieR:Automata Medley Part II in the future to continue this medley.
Anyway, enjoy this 1Million subscriber special video! And glory to mankind!

![Catch the Moment - Sword Art Online Movie: Ordinal Scale [Piano] / LiSA
Sheet music → https://mymusic.st/animenzzz/65499
Thank you for 1.8 Million subs! Starting next week I will record on my Steinway Grand Piano again! And「Catch the Moment」from LiSA is the perfect song to send off my Stage Piano, who has been accompanying me during my difficult times since January. At this point, I want to thank everyone for continuing watching my videos, despite the change of my instrument!
『Sword Art Online: Ordinal Scale』 is – in my opinion - one of the best entries in the Sword Art Online Saga and I absolutely loved the catchy melody from 「Catch the Moment」. I don’t know why, but while arranging this song, I had a sudden moment of nostalgia and it reminds me of the good old times in 2013, when I was mostly arranging fast paced Anime songs. For example 「This Game」 (No Game No Life OP),「Miiro」 (Kantai Collection OP), or 「unravel」 (Tokyo Ghoul OP)
I think that’s because fast paced J-Rock songs can be translated to the piano much easier than slower paced ballad songs. You don’t have to do too many modifications to “make it sound good on the piano” because the fast tempo itself has enough energy to carry the whole song.
This arrangement follows very closely the original song and even the bridge part in 3:18 is playing almost the same guitar melody line. Sometimes, you just need to copy exactly what the original song is playing and it still sounds good. I even went so far and included that peculiar guitar pattern in the left hand 0:23, which is only being played in the background during the first verse.
Unexpectedly, the very beginning part in 0:01 is actually quite difficult to play because of all the multitasking of both hands. It literally starts with a difficulty spike and it made me quite nervous during my recording attempts 😅
「Catch the Moment」has a comparatively long chorus part because of all the repeating parts but miraculously it doesn’t get boring at all. Maybe the catchy melody itself is simply too good. But to offset the repetitions a little bit, I included an additional bassline in the left hand in 1:20 and 2:37.
All in all, this arrangement is basically done in my “old arrangement” style from 2013-2017: Straightforward to the point and full of action!
Alright, thank you for reading this weeks ”Animenz Explains” column!
Despite the loss of the grand piano for the last 6 months, I still tried my best to continue uploading on Youtube in order to share my piano music with all the Anime fans in the world.
I want to thank every single one of you who were watching my new video uploads this year despite the sudden change of the instrument. The Stage Piano as well as the Moonlamp has served its purpose well and it’s time for me to retire them now. Especially Moonlamp-chan will definitely be missed (or perhaps not…?)
With that said, see you next time again!
In full gear this time.
