Part 3 of 6 for a multi-staged, event progression zone for a now-shelved Sonic fan game. Each tune in the series is a different arrangement and style of the same base theme.
Ascent has the player begin to traverse the treacherous landscape of the mountain- cliffs, slippery ledges, and falling snow and icicles. Not to mention the impending danger of the fall itself. Musically, the song takes the main theme and- like some of my previous winter themed music- adds a variation of having several parts be in a minor key to accentuate the impending danger of the cold. This version also has a bit of a western feel to parts of it, meant not to represent the deserts or plains of the wild west, but more so the mountains, canyons, and plateaus of the upper western United States. Not particularly "alps" themed, but I'm playing with all of the mountain stereotypes with these tunes haha.
