Edith’s peanut butter is more than just a delicious spread. It’s a business she built from scratch five years ago, which got a boost in 2021 thanks to a #WFP urban resilience programme funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC). For Edith, a single mother of four, her business means building a better future for her family - and those of the women she’s been able to hire to help her (1 to 2 women, depending on demand/the production season). “I feel good because now I have managed to help another family [through hiring someone]”, Edith explains. As a single mother of four, including an adult son with a disability, this means a lot to Edith🧡
In 2023, WFP supported more than 10,000 households in the country through this programme.
Strengthening local food systems is key to reducing humanitarian needs and creating a #ZeroHunger world.
