Most people come to Singapore’s Chinatown for the obvious spots - Maxwell Food Centre, the temple, and the main tourist streets. But just a few minutes away, around Erskine Road, there’s a small food street that many people still walk past without really exploring.
My goal: find one good drink spot, one proper food spot, one dessert, and one historical surprise - all within this small area.
Along the way, I check out rooftop drinks, oat milk ice cream, a beautiful heritage hotel, Shanghainese food, and some surprising history hidden around Maxwell and Chinatown.
Singapore is small, but somehow there are still places hiding in plain sight.
