In only seven national parliaments in the EU, women’s participation is above 40%!
The latest data in our monitoring portal shows a 9.4 percentage point growth in women's representation in national parliaments between 2010 and 2024, reaching a share of 33.4%. However, there are still disparities among EU countries.
In this context, using measures that capture different dimensions of gender equality is crucial for monitoring progress towards equality and identifying areas for improvement.
We need to strive for a world where every woman has the chance to innovate, create, and lead – in politics, in research & innovation and in all fields. This is why we are taking decisive actions: through Horizon Europe, we are funding more women-led research.
