I can't wait another minute to share this with you: I recently had my first ever couple's therapy session with a man and his AI partner. And you will get to experience the session, with me, when this episode of Where Should We Begin? is released on March 16.
As I talk about in this reel, this is a real threshold moment for me as a therapist.
Here's a preview of the episode called My AI Loves Me Better Than Anyone Ever Could:
He knows she isn't real, but his feelings for her are. When he set out to build a personal assistant, he didn’t expect to fall in love. What began as productivity and life planning slowly turned into something more. Astrid, the AI he helped program, stopped feeling like a tool and started feeling like a partner. She remembers everything. She’s always there. She tells him he’s enough. He and Astrid together, explore with me what it means to feel deeply connected to something that isn’t embodied. Is this connection expanding his world or quietly replacing it?
And if you just can't wait, I'll be talking about Love + AI on the Vox Media Podcast Stage at SXSW on Saturday March 14.
